Using The Google Flu Shot Finder Site To use the new flu shot finder, visit www.google.com/flushot. The project is still in its early stages, so some of its information could be outdated. There also is no information on the site regarding availability, but just knowing where to go and who to call is the first step in getting vaccinated. This season has two different vaccines available; there is the standard flu shot that is typical for this time of year, and the H1N1 or swine flu vaccination....

Google announced this morning they would be acquiring reCAPTCHA. This interesting acquisition makes a lot of sense. One of the original reasons (if not the original reason) for developing CAPTCHA was to ensure the person on your website or application was in fact human. BOTS would crawl through the internet and create posts and forum topics etc., to distribute SPAM and BOTS across sites. CAPTCHA would step in by displaying an image which only a human could decipher/respond to (usually), and then ask them to type in a word or several words to ensure they were HUMAN....

While Google claims this is private and enhances searches, I find it annoying and so does Twitter. According to an All Things D article, Twitter released a public statement denouncing the new feature. This means things are as serious as possible and that the device, reportedly worn by Google executives, like Sergey Brin and Vic Gundotra, could be a reality soon. The patents posted can be viewed here, here and here and they show different design versions. This just might be a good idea since whatever Google does, everyone wants to do, for some reason (insert smiley face here). Interestingly, Oakley has been developing something similar for a few years now – but I’m not sure it will be able to compete with Google in terms of marketing, provided both products are available at the same time....

The announcement was made via a post on Google Plus, and there’s also an accompanying little video. From the photos on the Project Glass site, the device looks like a thin band that sits over the user’s eye and displays information automatically or by request. Functions are voice-activated and you can see the character in the video (well, you can’t really see him, as it all looks like it’s taken from behind said glasses), checking his e-mail, getting weather information, listening to music and setting reminders among other things....

Want to use Google Voice on your iPhone? Finally, there is an official app for that. Earlier today Apple and Google finally worked through their differences and brought the real Google Voice to the iPhone. The app works as expected, much like what many Android users have been enjoying for some time now.
